So did you hear that big brown has a crack in one of his hooves and so they had his farrier put a notch in the hoof and stitch in a piece of stainless steel there?
I sure hope that these owners and trainers aren't so worried about winning the triple crown that they are willing to run this horse into the ground in 2 weeks knowing that will be all they ever get out of him... sigh...

Well it may or may not have been the cracked hoof but poor big brown didn't do it... now of course the trainer points the finger at the jockey Rolling Eyes
Maybe BB didn't want to run on that foot... maybe he was tired in the heat... maybe he wasn't the same without his steroids... maybe it is foul play by the trainer, by the jockey, by both...
In the end, my personal opinion is that I am glad the horse is in one piece even if he didn't win the triple crown.

I don't think the owner Rick Dutrow seemed too upset about the whole thing. I have nothing to back it up but given his shady past I wouldn't put cheating past him. It is very possible that he (in collusion with the jockey) made the decision to throw the race. I'd like to see his bank statements to see if he had some bets on the other horses. With BB such a large favorite the "win" tickets for the other horses skyrocketed significantly.

in the end I'm glad that BB is ok - I thought he was going to have a hoof problem with the crack, but it seems like they were able to protect the breeding rights $$$.
